2-HOUR GROUP WILDERNESS HIKE
At Bark Life Dog Walking, we offer daily group wilderness excursions for dogs who love to explore nature. We work with your dog to develop confidence, independence and essential life skills in the great outdoors, putting a little 'wild and free' into your dog's daily routine.
ADVENTURE AWAITS
Our 2-hour group wilderness hike is a half-day excursion for dogs with strong recall and social skills. Your dog is encouraged to experience all the joys, smells and discoveries of the great outdoors while you work: Rain, shine or snow, out we go, and you don't have to leave your home! On our small group wilderness hikes, we hike between 7-10 kilometres through the forest on off-leash friendly trails while taking breaks to swim and play along the way. We take photos and video clips so you can see what your dog is up to during their excursion, and we send you a post-hike update after every hike. We cap hiking groups at no more than six dogs to ensure hiking groups are not overcrowded and that each dog receives individual attention. We see the benefit in longer outings - the dogs learn to relax and decompress, and as a result experience many of the same mental health benefits that we humans do from being submerged in nature. You will find your dog is not only happy and tired after each excursion, but is generally more calm and content overall, as their physical, mental and emotional needs are being met.

The first step to beginning group wilderness hikes is to schedule a free consultation meeting, followed by a trial hike to determine what group would be the best fit for your dog. Consultations are conducted at the client's home on weekday evenings during the spring/summer and weekend mornings during the fall/winter. 1-HOUR GROUP TRAIL WALK:

We understand that not all dogs have the same social and physical needs - and that a dog's needs may change throughout their lifetime.
READY, SET, SNIFF!
Our one-hour afternoon group walk is the perfect way to break up the day for dogs who take on the world at their own pace. Dogs are picked up, safely transported to a quiet, low-traffic forest trail in the Beaver Bank area, and returned home afterwards. This relaxed trail walk allows dogs to stop and sniff, interact with peers and explore the forest in a low-stress, accessible and safe way. Senior dogs (over seven years old) and small dogs are welcome. While dogs with strong recall are preferred, dogs requiring a leash/long line may be able to participate, too. Dog owners receive an update after every walk, and photos of our outings are shared daily.

EXPERTISE AND EXPERIENCE
For over eight years, from Halifax to Dartmouth and now to Beaver Bank, Bark Life has worked with dogs of all age, breed and temperament. Dogs are boarded in a clean, comfortable family home with a fully fenced yard and dog-friendly furniture. Dogs are not crated unless specifically requested, have nearly-constant companionship and are walked for at least one hour daily. Our home has minimal stairs, making it a great spot for dogs with limited mobility, and is close to quiet, scenic, off-leash appropriate trails. Dogs are provided single-ingredient premium treats, enrichment activities, lots of affection and additional services as needed - basic grooming, medication, basic training, etc. Numbers are capped at five boarders per day, ensuring your dog has plenty of space, and we do not co-board multiple new clients at the same time, so that everyone is safe and comfortable. Daily updates, photos and video are available while your dog is in our care.

Currently, we are booking 2-4 months out; however, last-minute spots do become available on occasion! Blackout periods are posted on our News page.

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm any boarding spot. The remainder is due before or at boarding drop-off. Currently, we accept payment in cash or e-transfer only.
